The moment you slipped away
That I could tell you once again I love you
And you mean the world to me.
But now I cannot say this to you
For the Giver of Life has taken away.

Daddy you always used to quote Thoreau
"We all lead lives of quiet desparation."
So desolate you felt
So lonely you were
If only I could wrap my arms around you
If only I could have been enough to fill you
I just hope you know how much I loved you
And how much I always will

I wish I could have been there
When you slipped away
To hold your hand and share with you
The Good News before the Father carried you away
How I wish I was in your presence
How you would hold me in your arms
How I was always you "Little Blonde Girl"
And how you were always "Daddy"
Not anyone could be Daddy
Just the man who held me when I cried over my frist broken heart
Who yelled at me when I stayed out late
How helped me out of binds
Who relentlessly defended me
But never ceased to chastise me
Who cuddled me and loved
As no one has before.

Daddy I wish I could return these favors
But I never will have the chance
Daddy I wish I could hug you
So you could feel the love I have always felt
Daddy I wish I could see you
And tell you that I love you
Daddy I wish most of all you were still alive
So I would no longer feel the sorrow of losing you.
Daddy I wish....

this poem deserves so many more comments than it is getting..it is from the heart but it is also a true work of art. Bravo. Poetry should bring emotion to the fore and this did the job! Well done! I came away with a certain sadness, feeling your loss, but it was heartwarming as well because I felt a closeness and love....

I can only wish my 'little girl' feels the love expressed here! Truly a beautiful, heartfelt piece. Hope all is well in your world now.
Thanks for sharing.

A nice tribute to your
father.
I feel for your loss,but
your loss is our gain.
Your father is now joined
with the communion of
saints praising god
forever.
I'm sure he is looking
down on you with a smile
ever so big.
His love for his daughter
never ends.
Praise Jesus Christ
forever.

Amen

Sinned
