Two beautiful black girls
Who are interesting
Wild
Spontaneous
And just high on life
One is small and skinny
Her name is Yvette
The other is taller and more voluptuous
Her name is Jessica

Every night they come by this place
What for?
To see the “Jamie Crew”
They stay for hours on end
They are the reason for the bags under my eyes
But I don’t mind
I enjoy there presence
The way Yvette can’t concentrate
How she has an eternal smile glued to her face
She could never have a serious conversation
The fact that Jessica never has enough water
I swear she’s a camel
And if she stays up late enough
She’ll eat a whole extra meal

The clock strikes three
And they finally decide to leave
We say our goodnights
But in our minds we know that this is going to happen again tomorrow night
And the night after that
And the night after that
And the night after that

They act as if they don’t know of the evils of this world
Their innocence intrigues me
I am envious
Hopefully our friendship will continue to grow
Maybe we’ll become closer than expected
I hope they are people I can turn to when I need a friend
And I hope that I can be there for them
I haven’t known them for long
But the hours we spend together are cherished
