[bodytext] => It was a day to remember. You found me and adopted me, taking me into your home and keeping me warm, safe and never afraid. You were the only one I trusted, I thought I would stay with you forever. You never told me, you never said anything but lies. I thought you were my best friend – the one I’d never had, I had never had a friend. I thought we could laugh together, share secrets and stories, play, care for each other. We never did. I thought you would feed me only the best, play with me all the time, keeping me as happy as I could be. I thought you would love me and never stop loving me, always be there for me when I needed you, just like I was for you. I thought you cared, believed in me – I thought you always would. I thought you would never hurt me, abandon or abuse me, tell me lies. I thought you would make me happy. Just as I did for countless years. No matter what was happening, I cheered you up, even when your parents parted ways, I was there for you. I never left your side, I never was any trouble, I wouldn’t ever think of leaving you. That was what I thought. I thought many things… but you did not care. I helped you, as soon as you were okay you forgot me. I lived for days weak because of lack of food and depressed. I never thought it could get any worse. I wished that something would happen, but alas I just tried harder. You didn’t care, as long as you were happy. What had happened to that young 6-year-old who has adopted me? I still had faith in you, I did not forget those times. You were now 13, you were barley ever in your house. I was kept indoors despite the run I had outside that your friend had brought me for my birthday. My only present ever. You left me alone, going to work, school, anywhere but places with me. I still believed in you, however, as I do not forget. I do not forget. That was my personality back then – when you found me – and you knew. You forgot, you didn’t care for me. You only wanted to remember phone numbers and addresses. Because of you, my life is ruined. I have not forgotten. I managed to escape, find a loving home, but because of you, I do not appreciate their love. I would have once, but I don’t know how to love any more. You forgot that I do not forget. In that case, you ruined my life. You made me forget one of the most important things in life – love. Because of your obnoxiousness, you have betrayed me. I thought you were going to help me. Instead, you ruined my life. AUTHORS NOTE: Many people adopt a cute puppy or kitten when they are young. They forget these creatures will grow up with them, and one day they don’t care any longer. They abandon or abuse their pets, and the pets never forget. Before considering a pet, look at all the responsibilities. A pet is not just for Christmas, it is for life.
