It creeps over me, like a shadow on a wall
I feel it so deep within my soul

Its rules my judgement, it overpowers my resistance
My body bowing to its beauty.

Darkness sends its light in shadows
Outlining every object in the world
Beaming its power against the injustice of light
Clouding my judgement in a sea of tranquility
Swimming in a river of illusion
While i drown in its reality.

Darkness is my belief, my eternal heaven of silence
Screaming a doctrine within my heart
Flooding my life...
The gates of immortality open once more
The Demons within Destroying my soul

Darkness plagues my mind, knowledge but a whisper
It creeps over me, like a shadow on a wall
I feel it so deep within my soul
Talking through my thoughts
Its rules my judgement, it overpowers my resistance

Damn, Luke! This is one your best yet! I am very impressed, you usually don't write the dark stuff too often, but you excel at it greatly. Great imagery, great word usage (something I appreciate quite a bit), and I like how the simple title hides the complexity within the poem.

"Darkness is my belief, my eternal heaven of
silence
Screaming a doctrine within my heart"

That may be the single best line you've ever written...you should consider using that as your signature! Honestly!
