In my heart you shall forever dwell.
I gave you my son to this bitter fight
All because I believed you were right.

The politicians say it’s the right path
They say they deliver our god’s wrath.
But glory dear glory what is the cost?
Is it worth my son to be lost?

Glory dear glory of sweet bell of hell
In my heart you ring shall dwell.
Was this war worth the cost?
Was it worth the son I lost?

The solders of old said and they were right
It’s a rich mans war and a poor mans fight.
Glory O glory sweet victory bell
In my heart you shall always dwell.

Good poem. I wrote one about war in general in which I refer to her as a wanton whore, taking one young man after another, never sated...Maybe I'll post it and you can read it. I'm terribly sorry about your son. Many share your loss, although I know it is no consolation. My heart grieves for you...my husband lost a brother in Viet Nam...I lost a child in death, though it wasn't due to war, I do know that it feels un natural to out-live out children.
Again, I'm soo sorry.

Oh Shadow, dear Shadow....is there anything in this whole world worth losing your son for? I can think of none....but our sons have minds of their own, so its a decision we have to abide by. Please know my heart aches with yours. I lost my dear husband many year ago......not to war, but he is dead still!
Life is not fair, no matter how much you care,
or love, it will do it's own will.
I'm so sorry, please know how very sad I am that this happened to you and him!

I am so sorry for your tragic loss. This poem is a glorious tribute to many men and women who have loved ones who fought to lose.
Great write!
