Standing in the midst of total decay and desolation;
I search with all my senses for the smallest fraction of life;
As I breathe in the radioactive waste in the air;
The taste of death overwhelms me;
As I wonder through the emptiness around me,
I touch what appears to be a living thing;
Only to have it crumble beneath my touch;
In the twilight of my sanity,
I hear myself cry out;
Most all hope is gone, when the only answer I hear,
Is in my head;
My eyes scan the total abyss that lies before me;
Searching for another living human;
Not the dead, incinerated, lifeless, copses, lying in the ground;
I scream out,
"God, why?
Why am I still alive?"
I wonder why I should have to die a slow painful death;
Why me? Why did I survive?
Tears stream down my face;
Tears of sorrow and despair;
I ask myself why I am left alone?
With no sanity left in my body;
I am left alone, waiting for a resolution;
Waiting for someone to find me;
Or waiting to die;
Waiting to die a slow, painful, agonizing,
DEATH!
