GROUP STINK

Contributed by Steeleyes on Tuesday, 3rd February 2004 @ 06:08:01 AM in AEST
Topic: political

See the politicians
try to get off the hook
All their lies are clear to see
but they’re hoping
you won’t look

Any excuse will do right now
“It was intelligence to blame”
We were just innocent parties
We don’t share that shame!

We slaughtered innocent kids
Their blood is on our hands
Because we lied about WMD
To make you obey demands

Please don’t look into that
We weren’t AT ALL at fault
We pressured intelligence
just to justify assault?

Well, you just try to prove it!
We’ll make an almighty stink
Though we might admit to something
And that is called group think

That is what they’re naming it
As we all went round and round
Blind-eyed politicians
Baying like a hound

We all agreed Iraq is this alone
No other thoughtallowed
Anyone saying something else
Was beaten down and cowed

And if it comes down to the wire
We will admit to that
And you know you will be dumb
If you don’t smell a RAT

For the truth is we just didn’t care
What was lie and what was true
We only wanted to believe one thing
Whatever would snow you

That mass slaughter was a price worth paying
That it was all right and just and good
You needed the wool pulled over your eyes
Like all true shepherds should

We decided to do this
And made all the facts to fit
And now we’ve been exposed
We need a good scapegoat to hit

Oh yes we scared the hell out of you
We ranted on and on
Iraq is such an imminent danger
We must act until it’s gone!

We told all kind of lies
Not caring what we said
And now we’ve been found out
We’ll say it’s THEM instead

Do you see a pattern here
Of passing down the buck?
You know they lied their asses off
They didn’t give a ****.

So watch them now as they squirm
All wriggle room disappeared
Poor Bush can hardly croak a word
His ass is now veneered

Uh, ahh, well, em, err…
“I didn’t know a fact”
But ***-for-brains you said something else
As you told us to attack

You are a butcher Mr Bush
As plain as the nose on your ugly face
You’ll now go down in history
As America’s bloodiest disgrace

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
