Array ( [sid] => 33493 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Such A Tragedy [time] => 2004-02-02 01:19:17 [hometext] => it's about the lack of innocence in our world now, and in myself [bodytext] => When I look at what I was,
and I see what I've become,
my tears threaten to spill over.
It's such a tragedy.
Where did the innocence go?
How did the world fight it's way in
and crack that hopeful heart?
Where did that smile,
that joy bubbling over in laughter,
that eternal optimist,
that imagination,
go?
It's such a tragedy.
Where has the innocence gone?
When did I leave that stage in my life?
Kindergarten?
Grade 2 when I realized not all kids are nice?
Grade 5 when I felt not pretty?
Grade 7 when I got made fun of
to the point of wanting to die?
Grade 9 when I lost my first best friend?
April of grade 9,
when my sheltered view was shattered?
Grade 10 when I sunk into depression?
I wish I knew the moment,
the day, the time, the circumstance
that tore that innocence away.
I wish I could change it,
reverse the process,
go back in time;
just go back to that childhood
purity, innocence.
It's such a tragedy,
what I have become.
So tarnished, imperfect,
scarred.
My innocence all gone.
When did the world get in the way?
When did I let it strip me of my joy?
Dear God I cry,
for this to change.
I want my innocence returned.
I want someone to love me
despite these tears, despite these scars.
Dear God, can you please return my innocence?
It's been such a tragedy.
And all I long for Lord,
is to be held by you strong arms;
kept safe from the
horrors of humanity.
For I've seen too much;
and it's such a tragedy,
for I've seen much less than too many,
oh God! It's just
such a tragedy.
Can you fix this awful feeling?
Can you heal the pain outside seeping in?
Can you ever return us
to how we were meant to be?
For we've lost our innocence,
and
it's such
a tragedy. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 160 [topic] => 13 [informant] => waos [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )
