and warm to noon-day sun, this ancient star,
as all around them die, so die they must
while stone gods stand in place, and travel far.

We take our steps, we mark our trail in tears.
The sunrise marks the start, the night the end.
And in between the madness of our fears
screams in our dreams the dark at journey’s end.

What stone shall I, when dust, be nestled to?
What shield from wind, from scattered destinies?
I search the starlit heavens for a clue
and, while looking up, stones trip me to my knees.

I kneel in deadly darkness, as fate and fear enslave,
till one more sunrise saves me from the grave.

I enjoyed this poem a lot, I commend you, the words send a little chill through you, and I love when poetry does that.

Its poems like these that make sifting through loads of boring crap poems worthwhile.

Excellence and lovely language make this a surprisingly good read.

Loving it.
