It’s difficult to pick up the newspaper,
Or turn to the news on the TV.
Another soldier’s death in Baghdad,
It’s really painful to see.

It’s hard to comprehend the killings,
And the evil of these men.
They’re not just killing Americans,
They’re killing their own kin.

Is there no compassion?
No respect for what’s right.
It’s their right to freedom,
Is why we fight.

Unselfish are our goals,
Peace is what we seek.
Betterment for their people,
Protections for the weak.

My heart goes out to the parents,
Who have lost daughters and sons.
When so many are unappreciative,
Of this battle that we have won.

To our brave and courageous soldiers,
We appreciate your relentless pursuit of peace.
We continue to pray for your safety,
As evil continues to feast.

God watch over our soldiers,
And keep them in your care.
Protect them from the violence,
Calm every fear.
