to take my mind off of
the anal reservations of society
for a while,
you’ve flown into my life,
and into my heart and my mind
and made my world more lovely.

With you, I’ve found happiness,
solace, weakness, and summertime.
You’ve flown me through shimmering deserts,
as well as through plague-fallen areas
rotted out by stomach acid and bile
spilled onto the public streets by the rancid gullets
of the dying.

Through you, I’ve seen and learned much,
from aerodynamics to anesthesiology,
and all it’s ever cost me was a few
small payments of blood, though I’d
rather consider them tributes.

So once again, I pay my respects
as I celebrate my life and my body
with you, dear vampire.
Here’s to your dreams, and here’s to your life. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 192 [topic] => 38 [informant] => Butterat_Zool [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 19 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => Tributes )

Kind of morbid, but still impressive. I'm morbid myself, when it comes down to it! Good write, as always!

I love the perspective you take on things. I like the juxtaposition (whether intentional or not) of the 'morbid' stanza with the 'lala learning stuff' stanza following it. I love the ending verse.

Must stop using the words "love" and "like" so much. Dammit.
