In minds, amusing story laughter woke.

"Well, yes gentlemen," Don Jose arbitrated. "Whaling and bullfighting are alike
in several ways, pitting man against beast, albeit with different purpose. I enjoy
watching bullfights but know that half of the world's lights are fueled by whale oil."
Diego Silva spoke. " I've seen wonderful bull fights in the plaza, Excellency. It's
good way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Cock fighting's good too. I once won thirty
‘pesetas' on a white bird named ‘Blanco Malo'" "What did you do with so much money,"
Dona Rose asked with astonishment. "I bought silver for Bravo." "Nothing on self?"
"Well, maybe just a little for bullets." Huerra smiled, giving explanation. "Segundo
shoots rattlesnakes, senora. We occasionally see them at Oro." Explanation was given,
but Huerra's eyes and mind were fixed on Margarita; soul ached with desire. It didn't
matter what she wanted, he'd have her. Dona Rose spoke to the skinny man with the
big mustachio. " Is it true, Senor Silva, one can tell a snake's age by the number of
rattles it has?" "Some believe that, senora. I think it's all guess. Biggest snake I ever
killed had only six rattles. It was so old it couldn't see." " How big was it, Senor Silva?"
" It was ------- ah----------it was seven feet long. It was the biggest snake I'd ever seen
without the use of tequila."
