There goes time
With nothing to show
Except these rhymes
My childhood is over
I shall never return
To an endless forever
And nothing learned
Memories of scars
Of a horrid past
And goals that didn't go far
And love that didn't last
With tears that never stop
Fears that won't descend
I never reached the top
I didn't keep close friends
I didn't run and play
I didn't laugh and sing
I dreaded each day
I hated everything
I stayed in my world
I was only myself
In a ball I stayed curled
I put memories on the shelf
I stay locked away
So no one could see
But I had so much to say
But no one knew me
They didn't know what made me happy
They didn't know what made me sad
They didn't know about eternity
They didn't know about the bad
They lived their lives sheltered
Each day with a smile
Believing things only get better
Believing things lasted awhile
They lived in a world of lies
Sheltered from the truth
They didn't know what it was like to truly cry
They alway did as they were told to
And when they get to high school
They expect it to be the same
They think they know all the rules
But the truth is life's a game. [comments] => 9 [counter] => 197 [topic] => 13 [informant] => CuttersAngel [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

Very true indeed. Innocence doesn't last very long. Great write.

Exactly the reality that no child really understands. Great truth lies in this writing.
