with the everyday things.
Dragging my ass out of bed
each morning,
—functioning.

Enter stage left, an actress
in funky platform shoes,
choosing her stride, the role
of someone more whole
and aligned.

I’ve done the routine.
I’ve been somebody’s whore,
somebody’s queen, somebody’s
everything
—nothing,
and stuck in-between.

I’m learning the walk
all over again, how to wiggle
just right, get the spunk in
my talk,
sleep through the nights.

Won’t tie my tongue
like a dirty shoestring. I’ve
stopped tiptoeing around
uncomfortable things
and breaking stride.

The second stanza is, in my opinion, the best of these (it would appeal to me, seeing as how I like acting, and theater, and yadda yadda.....). "All the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts" -- "As You Like It" Just reminded me of that so much =)
Another great one =)

God bless,
Ellen

Normally I don't adore flat poetry about life, but I liked this one anyway. That last paragraph holds a poem of its own. Overall this one is dandy.
I give it a 4.5 on the Nortiscale

WoW! What a thoughtful poem! You're very talented! Good ideas and writing, I can't find the word I wanted to say but I found this poem one of the best I've read! KEep it up!
