That package is waiting for you
Completed
And all telling
All is wish for you to know
Is in those pages
On that tape
I died tonight
My friends, my family
Mourning my passing
You are one of the first
They call
They have known for months
That I loved you
I died tonight
Leaving your love unknown to me
Never tasting your tears
Never having kissed your sweet lips
Not baring a child
That looks just like you
I died tonight
Leaving that package
They give it to you
When you walk through our door
You take it
Stunned
And feeling numb
You cannot walk
You can’t even move
I died tonight
You sink into the chair
Across from the coach
Where I always sat
Waiting…watching
Wishing you’d come
I died tonight
Before you knew
How I felt
It’s all right there
In that parcel in your hand

I died last week
You stand over my grave
Tears streaming down your face
I see you
But can offer no comfort
Not anymore
Not now
Not ever in your lifetime
I died last week
I see the pages all crumpled
And stained
I see your face contort in pain
I want to reach out…beyond my grave
I died last week
Heaven is hell without you here
I am your guardian angel
So I can watch over here
So I can watch over you
Loving you…
Wanting to ease your pain
Wanting you still
I died last week
You decided to late
You knew you loved me
But you took my life for granted
Now the love you evaded
And didn’t want at the time
Has consumed you
Now you love me
I died last week
You loved me to late

I died long ago
You stand there now
Tired, old
And wanting to come home
I see you
Each time you come
The seed you planted
Now a majestic tree
I died oh so long ago
You come to me this night
With a chisel in your hand
You carve a simple phrase
Right beside my name
The moon breaks through the clouds
“And loving husband”
Is revealed
You lay your hammer down
And rest on top of me
Fifty-three years
Have finally brought you home
Finally to me
Now you are mine
Finally forever
All because…
You died tonight
