When stars have abandoned the strongest of hopes
And life's flickered out as the mem'ries elope
When winds breathe lost airs of impregnable scope
And music is torture down emotional slopes
A dream is a swirl of returning reprisals
Arias long faded with time
Yet pain wets the eyes of the near-woken dreamer
For yawns push the precious behind
So think not on future; and dream not of life
Breathe all the world and intoxicate strife
Find sorrow's rhythm and dance into joy
The world is a plaything
--So cherish your toys--

This is beautiful. You are a poet in my eyes. My favorite lines are "When stars have abandoned the strongest of hopes, and life's flickered out as the mem'ries elope" and "A dream is a swirl of returning reprisals, arias long faded with time". I love the closing stanza. What can I say? Excellent!

This is beautiful - 'Yawns push the precious behind'.
Real insight and wisdom flows from the last stanza - this made me smile, as dreams are my favoured subject. Thankyou. |
