Now and 'then'

Contributed by Hanno on Saturday, 10th January 2004 @ 05:14:49 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

For years I could not stand myself,
fell in with others who felt the same,
always blamed someone else,
never took fair blame.
I was miserable and 'happy' with that role,
today feeling fantastic is my goal,
although I don't always get what i hope for,
right now I couldn't ask for more.......
my friends are positive,
and for that reason
I LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A very positive poem. The line
'I was miserable and 'happy' with that role'
is very realistic and I must say very very very true. Hope everyone reads this poem because sometimes all we see the black but we don't realize we're standing in the shadows and forget the light.

How well I understand this feeling that the poem emotes. Look always on the bright side every cloud has a silver lining . Keep smiling from bernard.

What a joy to see somebody shake off that awful self pity that pervades some poetry
we see here.

Bravo for you!! So few people that are in that frame of mind come out of it. I did after many years of depression and life is beautiful now. I applaud you and wish you the very best of life to come. Like your poem too. Rita
