Array ( [sid] => 31124 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => MY WINTER'S SONG [time] => 2004-01-08 22:35:12 [hometext] => The temps have been below zero for over a week now, dirty snow, no glow, tired of trying to keep warm. How do you endure....just sing MY WINTER'S SONG. [bodytext] => As the temperatures fall, with each snow drop.
There's a place I go to endure a cold winter,
and there, I eavesdrop.
Deep inside my soul, deep inside my heart, memories.
Birdies, ants, little bees, sticky pine cones,
lilac bushes, blossoming trees, humming
birds, and beautiful faced pansies!

'Tis My Winter's Song, the melody I hear,
my spirits boost,
On cold, snowy winter days, prisoner induced!
The plain white snow becomes a thick green
luscious lawn..
Spring in the mountains, a Doe, attends
her freshly born fawn.

Magically, my little drab chickadees become
wonders of color
Robins with red breasts, Blue Jays,
Cardinals, brilliant feather.
I crawl between my heated sheets, and dream.....
Warm nights, light warm breezes, no wind,
nor sleet, nor chips of ice.
My flowers, hollyhocks, tulips, lilacs,
sunflowers, so concise.

Fragrances of Spring entice my smelling
bud's nose.
Pine from the Mountain Pines, blooms from
the tiny wild rose.
Newly cut grass, I'd even welcome a visit
from Mr. Smelly Peppe' LaPue!
Tiny tinges of spice, wintergreen, evergreen,
with morning dew.

Summery nights of shimmering stars,
bright full moon.
No haze, nor gloom surrounding heaven's
beautiful tune.
My Winter's Song is no melodic,
so renewing, alive.
The notes are all colored, green, blue,
orange, red, to revive!

My little critters and I play for hours
'neath Summer's Sun.
Tag, pulltoy, long games of Soccer Ball
all just for fun!
Ah, the tastes I remember, big glass of icy
cold tea, with lemon slice, and fresh well
water, cold, straight from the ground.
Cotton Candy, caramel apples, prizes for
the Best All Around, at the Fairground!

Oh, how I love My Beautiful Winter's Song......
In my head, and mostly in my heart, I sing
it all day long.
It won't be long from now, I'll be singing a
different tune,
In the dead of Summer's heat, I'll be singing
of snowdrops as large as a teaspoon!

We human people are never satisifed it
seems, if it 's hot, we want it cold, if it's warm
we hate the mold.
Lovingly Gracious to man He will give....
Knowing, that variety is the spice of life....
A Happy life for all to live...

Four beautiful seasons, and then,
if that isn't enough.....
A marvelous imagination, for further change,
like the waving wand of His Seraph.
Lovingly giving us the choice to again, rearrange.

I could picture summer as well as winter. You bring the imagery alive, you really do. My grandmother had lovely, tall, hollyhocks and I have never seen them since. Thank you for reminding me of what I thought I had forgotten.
You are a wonderful writer.
