He thinks of his love and hers.
How can he compete with that?
How can he change her?
It would be as as storm without shelter,
Fire without water, love without honour.

And as he sits, soulful, thoughtful,
He decides to turn his back on his and hers
No one changes like that.
No one turns overnight.
Like a man worrying over the broken world
What can one man do?

There is no way for soulful, thoughtful to win.
No chance of redemption in the face of time
Forever changing-the fickleness of youth.
What can stand in the path of the tide?
Not this folding breakwater,
Not this bending reed.

Never for soulful, thoughtful, not ever,
But did she ever?
Please dont leave me alone with that possibilty.
As if the world did not weigh heavy enough.
Did I waste what chance I had?
Did I wait and see while time brushed me aside?

And back we are again.
Back with the thoughts and time,
Times cruel whip-bending your mind toward her.
Is soulful, thoughtful at the first square again?
Not again to see her in that light.
The torment of another day-seeing her in that light.

He, a pillar before the Gods, stands
While soulful, thoughtful sits, stutters, and mumbling retires.
With his hope blistered
But hope, however blistered becomes the last refuge of the desperate man.
And I am a desperate man.

But in the end, soulful
As the world turns, thoughtful
You two are back at the beginning with me.
And after all is said and done
And even when time pushes you to run
You'll wait for her, as always, as forever it seems.

Wait and see
