screaming things which weren't right.
I still hear it in my head
word for word, all you said.
The truth, they say shall set you free
and a drinking man speaks honestly
what's in his heart, how he feels.
Right or wrong, to him it's real.

I watched your actions, the way you looked
harsh words bellowed as you shook.
Stone cold eyes gazed with hate
while that night sealed our fate.
As you tried to make me feel
the pain you caused is very real.
I held a tear back in my eye
for you would not see me cry.

I quietly sat and let you go
can't stop a mad man on a roll.
I clung to every word I could
making sure I understood.
With no doubt, you did not hide
how you really feel inside.
The stinging words you spew at me
hit me hard with reality.

The next day, skies brought rain
yet, "I'm sorry" never came
and though you never asked me to
in my heart, I've forgiven you.
