Array ( [sid] => 30950 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => the scabbed remains of forests [time] => 2004-01-07 01:09:46 [hometext] => a bit cryptic. or maybe symbolic. in any case, a scrawl of love lost to death. [bodytext] => crystal...

miniature
blue
it's all she ever knew
and even as my boot drew blood
she wore the same old faded smile

afforded only the hope
that drugs can provide
in exchange for everything
that used to be inside

she never understood
even as i guided her
through the scabbed remains of forests
leveled by veteran razor blades
she'd look to me for answers
but i was always at a loss

our love was simple
maybe even pure
our love was forged
our love was made
on the broken earth
in the scabbed remains of forests
erased by ageless razor blades

(seemed like it would last forever
seems like it only lasted a moment
the sigh of Time
marked beginning and end
and all that was left
was blood and lonely tears)

still aloof
everything seemed new
this love was the cure for this life
her touch revived smiles
that died so long ago
and her kiss healed every scar

i couldn't let this love grow old
i couldn't let it die
my death would bring us closer
and our love would always survive

one last time
we walked through the woods
i wanted her to be there
when the razors came again
wanted her to see them take me
take me to be with the trees

she saw my tears
but she didn't understand
she thought it was just
the beauty of the moment

and it was
but, it wasn't

i kissed her lips
a final time
and with my eyes, i said,
"i love you"

then i stepped back
and pointed my wrists to the sky

the razor's came
slicing the air like newborn flesh
phantom screams pierced the breeze
and i smiled as i heard the razors tear flesh
and quickly arc away

i looked at my wrists
and found them unscathed

feeling cheated, i looked to her for comfort
and found her lying, bleeding, on the ground

the irony did not escape me
but for the moment i didn't care
i just held her close as her breath grew weak
and licked her blood soaked hair

her eyes found mine
and silently
she told me everything
she wasn't so empty after all

my tears sliced rivers down my cheeks
like the reign/rain of razor blades
and she died there, in my trembling arms
and her same old smile began to fade

i buried her in the scabbed remains of a forest
scarred forever by thoughtless razor blades
i buried her and left her to rot alone
in the shadow of the love we made [comments] => 6 [counter] => 159 [topic] => 22 [informant] => Cancer [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => LostLove )

Perfect mixture of pain, poignancy, love, and sheer darkness. How do you do it? Simply spectacular.

Truly,
-V.S.

I really liked the lines
"afforded only the hope
that drugs can provide"
and
"our love was forged"

This is very well written, so beautiful, so real, and much the way i feel.
