Array ( [sid] => 3067 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Hero [time] => 2002-08-30 23:13:02 [hometext] => I wrote this poem as i noticed that the people who call themself a hero, and who act all big and bad, are never really the hero at all. Its my first poem so... be nice, but please leave critism, since thats what i learn from. [bodytext] => I look at all the warriors,
And I look at all the strong.
The cocky and the arrogant.
They never seem to get along.
They tell me they’ll protect me.
They tell me that they care.
They call themselves my hero.
And that they no no fear.

But yet here comes the dragon,
And here comes the fight.
I soon find myself alone.
The men left in fear and fright.
And soon before my fate comes,
My own death drawing near.
I hear a tiny voice.
And a young man standing here.

He stands before the dragon,
No shield nor sword he bares.
He pulls his little dagger,
He gives off no worried air.

This young man is so small
He is not what I’d expect
To be the one standing there
Risking his own to save my neck.

The dragon comes, the dragon glares.
Death working at its will.
He turns before the small man,
His eyes focusing on his kill.

Yet the small man stays ready
He will fight to his end
Willing to sacrifice his life.
For someone he never even called a friend.

A watch in awe,
As he fights without any fears.
And somehow he manages
To get the dragon down in tears.

I run over to the young man,
And mutter out in glee.
Why did you stay to save me,
When you could have ran off free.

He gives a weary look,
And tired sorta smile
He looks into my eyes and tells me,
Running's not my style.

He begins to walk away from me
With a limp and without a turn.
He never did look back
Never expected something in return.

I watch him go in silence,
I think to myself as he goes.
I guess I see who a hero is,
My life to save he chose.

A hero isnt just someone big,
Or someone with a sword and shield.
He isnt someone arrogant,
Or someone who fights in the field.

A hero is someone
Who would give his very breath.
In order to save another
From their own untimely death.

Amber Rose :)

You certainly have a natural flare for writing, if this is your first, you just know the words well with your pen in hand, off they flow... :)
