Array ( [sid] => 30660 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Alzheimers Keeps Turning [time] => 2004-01-03 07:41:33 [hometext] => all poems i write are related one way or another to alzheimers, a tragedy all need to be aware of [bodytext] => they step further upon the threshold of no return
there is nothing to stop the progression
with each stage they encounter till point of no return
we can only sit back and sadly watch
as the wheels of alzheimers keeps turning

from the onset of alzheimers to the end
we keep track of all our loses and weep
let it be known by our distress how much we suffer
there is no cure but each day we pray for one
as the wheels of alzheimers keep turning

but the wheels of our hearts keep spinning
the prayers keep going out to beseech a response
the lack of support from family and friends take its toll
without financial and emotional support strings can snap
as the wheels of alzheimers keep turning

it is sad how much destruction is wielded by this disease
the physical destruction the victim does suffer
and the emotional destruction the caregivers receive dailey
as the wheels of alzheimers keeps turning
so do the wheels of our hearts [comments] => 1 [counter] => 230 [topic] => 39 [informant] => maryetta [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Grief )

Oh How tragic, how devastatingly true. And the caregivers get no credit. How trememdously sad to see one that you love slowly disappear from your recognition. I comment you for your courage, and loved this poem....for indeed Alzheimers down turn round and round...from one day to the next...but as you said....so do the wheels of your heart. This was so sad, and I have so much fellow feeling for you,
Hugs and encouragement
Splendid Poem
