One among the great sages of Rig-Veda who
Sang hymns on Lord Viswakarma, the creator,
And lived not less than five thousand years ago!

The ancient sages of my clan were great scholars
Artists, architects, gold smiths and great sculptors
They knew science of space craft and traveled a lot
Through astral planes which now they have forgot!

Two thousand years ago my family came to the banks
Of river Krishna and became famous for their sculpture,
Sage Nagarjuna the greatest Buddhist scholar and seer
The then teacher of all was also one of my ancestors!

During 9th and 10th centuries we worked in villages as
Administrators for some time under the rule of Andhra
Chalukya kings on the banks of the south Indian rivers
Later under the British rule we as smiths and carpenters!

In our families even today we follow Vedic traditions
A man of our families should learn a holy Vedic hymn
Should practice principles of truth and non-violence
And also to follow the righteous path to attain beatitude!

Now my friends I can proudly state that I am an Indian
Who follow the righteous path taught by ancient sages
Who followed principles of truth, non violence, peace
Service to men and devotion to Lord Shiva the great god!

Hello Venkat,

This post really took me by storm.......let me explain. Only this morning........very early this morning, I was thinking of how the world claims to be so advanced to date. When it all started thousands of years ago. Nothing new under the sun! Your poem only validates my thoughts exactly. What a proud lineage to have running warm through your veins.:) If I'm to be honest.......there is a part of each and everyone of us there also. Thank you so much for this one......I love it.:) Talk about timing......just what I needed to read. Thanks for this spiritual and educational write.

Continued Blessings,
Gloria E.

How wonderful of you to share your marvelous lineage with us. How we would all be able to trace our ancestry back that far. I know your spirit will shine always throughout the universe as your ancestors have. You are such a talented man. Peace be with you always.

Rita
