So close and near, yet far away
The light never touches your face
Your eyes gleaming in the dark

Clearly your sorrow is shown
Clouded only by the darkness of your way
The shroud of night on your shoulders rest
Your pain evident not through any earthly mark

I will show you the ways of the light
The brighter paths to take
May my words enlighten your life
May my actions show you a way to escape

Caught in the black of night
Your dismal composure waning to break
Disturbed beneath the surface of pale silence
Feelings needing to find a peaceful shape

Frustration piles out of your aching body
You don’t talk or respond
You just watch, wait and listen
I wish that you would tell me all that’s wrong

*************************************

I’m silent because I don’t trust myself
Even though we have developed a sort of “bond”
I’m not safe to be around yet you stay and talk
Your words flowing smoothly like a fluid song

I won’t tell you what the problem is
I feel that it is mine with which to deal
I sit alone in the darkness
And your voice guides me like a bright morning star

Keep singing to me in that sweet melody
Your compassion strong enough to feel
The love you give forth pulls me softly
Be patient and I’ll arrive to you no matter how far

A good write! For the most part, I could feel and picture the emotion but I did get lost the odd time. Your style is smooth. I would like to read something from you that has short verses and carries you along with gentle words. I am not an expert by any means but, I can't read poetry if I get bogged down trying to understand the writer. Thanks for sharing. Hope to read more!
