as i trudge head down through lonely streets
in desperate search for a comforting smile
some pearly white affection,
but its not going to happen...

why are relationships like matches?
the longer you hold on,
the more it burns,
a scorching repentance,
love is fire,
and in your eyes burns a flame,
flickering and dimming,
not enough to light up my life,
but enough for you to be the love of my life
can't see past your burning flames,
through to your lies and embers
floating towards me with an inviting gloom

this burning leaves scars,
the physical heals,
the emotional deals,
the psychological stays,
to haunt the new,
with a fresh batch,
well on the way,
scars change color,
they are the colors of sunsets,
sunsets are red hot warnings,
my scars so vast and populated are freckles,
i am polka-dotted,

something to think of,
