Array ( [sid] => 29975 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Grandfathers Swing [time] => 2003-12-22 22:08:19 [hometext] => This is about my Grandfather and I when I was a very small child. He passed away in 1977. So I thought I would write this for him. [bodytext] =>
Old and tattered, a white wooden bench;
Held up by chains, Grandfather would sit.
So much has passed since that time long ago,
When we sat there together just watching leaves blow.
He sat on one side and I on the other,
No words were spoken, just enjoying each other.
We watched the big bees as they swarmed around flowers,
We’d swing back and forth and sit there for hours.
Today it still hangs from the porch of that home,
The white paint is weathered and I am now grown.
A joyful feeling this memory does bring,
As I sit here reminiscing of Grandfathers swing.

Awww, such a touching write Joy.
I am sorry you lost your grandfather. :(
My grandfather sits and talks to me about where he used to work and live.
I enjoyed reading this.
I was thinking of what my grandfather talks about. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

Beautiful write Joy!I really liked this one,it made me daydream for a little moment while reading it,it sort of took me away..Though it might be just a "swing", sometimes an object can represent something we hold so dearly.I loved the texture of your poem ! Nicely done !
