A projectile fired from a catapult
I turn my head away as signs
Begin to melt into blurry lines

The moon is gone, it's hours past late
Already blinding I further accelerate
In my rear view mirror my life will flash
If meant to go on I will not crash

As endless fields are passing me by
With anguish inside I still wonder why
As I drift across the center line
My hands at my sides, this exit is mine

It feels so slow, it's so surreal
Just like my visions of twisted steel
What lies ahead as I change my gears
Can't see a thing through all of the tears

Overdriven
Can't escape fast enough

Can I truly vanish without living a day
I'm ready to meet what's coming my way
As I drift across the center line
My hands at my sides, this exit is mine

A darkened tunnel is where my path leads
The lights in my face are all that I need
No returning from this decline
I don't wish to stop, i've cut the brake line

Leaving dust on the road behind
Red lights mean nothing, i'm color blind
My time has come, let the end begin
As my limit is reached, the gauge is pinned

The wreck happened
Before I turned the ignition

The horizon never draws closer
As for the future, no one knows her
Who knew it would be this tough
Still can't escape this fast enough

As endless fields are passing me by
With anguish inside I still wonder why
As I drift across the center line

Cut the Brake Line

Contributed by Vitreous_Soul on Sunday, 21st December 2003 @ 05:54:42 AM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

Piercing sky as black as asphalt
A projectile fired from a catapult
I turn my head away as signs
Begin to melt into blurry lines

The moon is gone, it's hours past late
Already blinding I further accelerate
In my rear view mirror my life will flash

As endless fields are passing me by
With anguish inside I still wonder why
As I drift across the center line
My hands at my sides, this exit is mine

It feels so slow, it's so surreal
Just like my visions of twisted steel
What lies ahead as I change my gears
Can't see a thing through all of the tears

Overdriven
Can't escape fast enough

Can I truly vanish without living a day
I'm ready to meet what's coming my way
As I drift across the center line
My hands at my sides, this exit is mine

A darkened tunnel is where my path leads
The lights in my face are all that I need
No returning from this decline
I don't wish to stop, i've cut the brake line

Leaving dust on the road behind
Red lights mean nothing, i'm color blind
My time has come, let the end begin
As my limit is reached, the gauge is pinned

The wreck happened
Before I turned the ignition

The horizon never draws closer
As for the future, no one knows her
Who knew it would be this tough
Still can't escape this fast enough

As endless fields are passing me by
With anguish inside I still wonder why
As I drift across the center line
My hands at my sides, this exit is mine

Wow. For lack of anything particularly constructive or interesting to say, wow.

This was absolutely fantastic, V. S. Worth every puppy-dog-eyed moment spent begging for it.

I could really, really picture this as a song.

You may be the only one who realizes what this means, but I think I'm gonna memorize this.

Nice job.

Very emotional VS...took me right along as the fields passed by....the brake line is severed....but sad too. That's what dark poetry will always do for you....leave you sad and blue. I love your loving poems that inspire and soar....leaving us feeling refreshed, and ready to roar!
But that's not to say....there is a place for dark poetry....it's just not for me.
lovingcritters.....and inspirational poems
