A small detail to bring up a picture
Every now and then I remember
But this love, I wish to forget her

It's a coincidence when you find
An unmarked box underneath the foot of the bed
It could very well be Pandora's
Housing the warmth and dreams which are dead

A single stack of photos lies within
Memories come flooding back with a roar
As if by chance one falls from the middle
Landing face down upon the floor

Written in small letters
Conveyed through tear-smudged ink
Three simple little words
The mere sight made my heart sink

As I reversed the picture to the front
In fear of what would meet my eyes
Myself and another wearing smiles
At the time I didn't know they were lies

Again I gaze at the back of this frozen moment
Knowing i'll forget it never
A tear rolls down my face as I read
Three simple words; "Always and Forever"

But still, I couldn't forget that time
As painful as it maybe now
Even if I desired to
My heart would not allow

There's no real way to banish these thoughts
Never quite sure how
I'll just forget until the next time I remember

BRAVO! Again and again, VS. You are astonishingly poetic now! You really hit the heart strings of everyone here VS. We go back and look at the past....and remember what we were feeling at the time that didn't last! Tremendous impact on us all. Like flying on our "Time Machines" go back and reliving....but also "feeling" what it was like then, and now! I recently looked at my wedding pictures...when I was saying vows to my beloved husband....if I had known at that moment he was going to die 10 years later....would I have still married him? And after he did die..I could never use the word "if" again. If only I'd have done this, or "If" only I hadn't have done this, would he have survived?
Marvelous poem indeed, VS your talents are shining like the huge star on the Christmas Tree! Beautiful Light!
