[bodytext] => Pretty chocolate flower
standing near the fence
because her name was mine
a new one for her she lent.

I was told to call her Lady
her color so divine
all of four years old
she was molding a little mind.

Some marks on me
were chocolate colored too
but all of her
was the creamy darkened hue

This little girl confused
and no answers anywhere
a mama's absent place
with no daddy to ever care.

She placed her hand palm up
to show my color there
putting us in common
so I wouldn't have to stare.

She told me god had chosen me
a simple precious soul
for her to teach to me some tolerance
and its' message to be my goal.

We are all one inside
my pretty blonde haired lass
so many of these differences
with love, they too will pass.

If you look for all your beauty marks
here's one, there, and too
you'll have a part of me
always to be with you.

She was lovely in her pretty scarves
multi-colored gowns and jewelry
full of pride and absent of airs
a kind word with no flaunting finery.

Her ways unique and so very freeing
she had Big Joe and her Tracee girl
joyful laughter with carefree ease
safety in her lap as my sleep unfurled.

I'll always remember my Jamie Lady
a regal soul from so long ago
who taught a little girl what love really is
and showed her how tolerance could grow. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 258 [topic] => 48 [informant] => jaeann [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Oh Jaymee how delightful....and how loving, how kind and how true. It seems we meet others in our lifetime to set us on the right road. This loving lady was you haven and abode..i'm so glad she graced your life...for we learn so much from others amidst our torn strife filled life. I knew a lady just like this...she was my babysitter for Montie....and he never would admit she was black. She was his Ardela...no color...just a great big heart as big as all outside!
Beautiful lovely poem
Love you,
ConSue
