A small boy in a world without love
A mother who loved as much as she could
The boy never wanted the pain the man inflicted
Like a wounded animal, the wounds he licked
Until he grew older the weapons he flicked

Easy come easy go, no love or mercy inside
As a boy to the woods he would run and hide
Alone with nature no-one knew he was there
He only wanted someone to care

He made a bed so deep, and buried himself with leaves
He was safe now, safe to breathe

Within himself he hid the pain, no tears no gain
He had to go back to protect his mother from the man who reined

Years later the boy now sixteen, still the memories of a child
Looking back the boy with no tears, just wild

His stepdad used to say be a man, take the pain
No pain no gain

One faithful night the boy snapped and they came to blows
How his stepdad ended up in intensive care who knows.

He had to protect his mum from the violence she had endured
Their life now was finally cured

The boy grew up into a man, a kind and humorous man
Those he loved and respected he cared for like his mam
The dark side no-one wanted to unleash
Like beauty and the beast
Always on the defensive afraid of getting close
Afraid he would be hurt once more, distant like the coast

I knew the man who never cried, he is in my heart and soul
Part of him I could never hold

His daughter asked me why dad never weeps
He hurts on the inside his pain is deep

Standing by his graveside I held his daughter close
as tears bedimmed our eyes
For the man who never cried

So sad so strange the days that are no more

To my beautiful friend Paul
May the angels
Care for you

Love
Angelxxxx

Thanks for sharing that. I have a background similar to the one you have written about. I hope I can be a man who prevents abuse from happening to others
