we begin to wonder are they there really there
we listen to them over and over wishing and then
one day we wake up fix our meal and they talk
somewhere there is a glimpse of who they were

you sit down at the table amd listen to thier old self
all day long you spend listening and absorbing everything
the next morning you get up bright and early hoping
but that gilmpse of their old self is gone and you mourn
somewhere there is a glimpse of who they were

its hard to believe a disease can cause all this agony
we try to grasp a meaning to what is happening
we cant seem to come to grips with alzheimers itself
we only react to the visual - that is mom - and yet
somewhere there is a glimpse of who they were

the hardest part of this is watching them decline
they go from who we remember to a total stranger
the body looks the same but they arent the same
alzheimers has taken the core of the one we love away
somewhere there is a glompse of who they were
