Array ( [sid] => 28953 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => MY MOST PRECIOUS FRIEND [time] => 2003-12-09 00:08:35 [hometext] => Have you ever had a most precious friend. One that you simply could not live without? I've had one like that for 60 years. [bodytext] => When it is you write, teach
me kindness & revelry.
Honor the poets who wrote
before me, beauteous poetry.
Rage if you must, speak softly,
offend no one my friend.
Master my words, for downtrodden,
persecuted, defend.

Speak of nature's wonders,
with crafting streamline.
Giving credit to a Marvelous
Creator's design!
Many false gods do we see,
most hate and destroy.
Be inspirational, always helping
others to find joy.

Hand in hand together we've
endured travesities.
My heart was always opened up to you,
years now are sixties.
You've never left me once,
always by my side, to reside, provide,
helping me to decide, untried.

In all kinds of weather, warm
and sun shining grey
Your attribute of loyalty,
impressed me to stay,
not stray!
You were there when I fell
to my knees, futile prayer.
Out of pure desperation,
I held you tight, to suffer.

Cross them out, do it right,
words of superior excellence
Profanity dimissed, replaced
instead, for silence.
Fallen, follows empathy,
forgiveness, sympathy
Reasonableness, not dogmatic,
refreshing, not filthy!

The needs of our time
concenrate, do not berate.
A world without love,
and goodness, not orate.
Helping those lost, hearts hardened
out of lawlessness.
Encourage loving ways, up-building,
with courageous boldness.

How could I ever find the wisdom or the word,
to thank you for confidentiality of all my
emotions you never once blurred,
but captured.
The relief your friendship
meant as I related, sadness, loss,
betrayal, bad following bad grated!

Small victories, elated with
joyfulness and glee.
Seeing the end in sight just you and me.....
remembered, for all eternity.
I will always be indebted to you,
my most precious friend,
My Pen!

Joy!!!! Do I get to be the first to read and comment? Wonderful!
No, I didn't guess. I was thinking of a few other scenes, but I find comfort in my pen as you do. I agree whole-heartedly with your philosophies of life and what you choose to write that uplifts other hearts from their blues.

I really did not guess it to be a pen.......I had thought that this is about a spouse or an especially close friend...But I agree with you...a pen...can be your best friend. I have this affliction in which I am unable to express myself openly...a disease that is part john wayne/clint eastwood machoism and partly due to my totally analytical and machinelike love for logic. I am at my most profuse only in my writings...so I guess I can relate well to your tale of the friendly pen. Although I mostly use the keyboard nowadays...but sixty years...that must be some pen...I go through about one pen every few months...anyway...this is quite a nice poem ...which conveys the feeling of friendship well....even I got that fuzzy warmth associate dwith these moments....of course it past..on quickly me being what I am...squashed it before it grew...hehe and other tales of the sleepless mind.
