this is my rejuvinating nite shes in bed
the dog curls contentedly on the rug
the cats are draped over the couch
tonight i am blessed with peace and quiet

i turn off all the lights and watch the fire
i smell the pot pourri i watch the candles
i wait for this day sat thru thur anxiously
it has become a ritual of salvation for me
tonight i am blessed with peace and quiet

i tried to include her one night it failed
she cant sit and remember to enjoy no memory
so now i wait till she is asleep to rejuvinate
she watches me prepare my little ritual she is confused
tonight i am blessed with peace and quiet

i think of nothing but what is sensed
i let all my senses interact with my enviornment
you cant imagine the relief i begin to feel
it refreshes me since no other outlet is available

Bless your heart Maryetta, my mother had Alzhiemers, and I took care of her for a while, but it soon got to be too much. I'm so proud of you for helping whomever she is!
But being a caretaker can certainly take it toil..I loved this poem so much, and want you to know what a fine poet you are, and please never give up writing. Your writing is an outlet for all you grief....keep doing it dear so you will have some relief.
This poem was beautiful could also be a parallel to everyone's life...when you put away all your troubles, and strife.
Warm love and hugs dear.
I love you,
ConSue

Dear Maryetta, thank you for sharing these experiences. Seems so many are being taken by Alzhiemer's. I'm so sorry for what they lose, but there are other victims, too. The ones that love them and try to care for them are devastated. too.
Your poetry seems as though you are here, telling me about it. Love, Bizzy
