I woke up from a dream so dark
Somehow you found your way into my heart
And burned out the light of my resolve
Every promise I made to myself absolved
I was sure that I had tucked you away
Somewhere warm and calm and safe
But so far from the root of me
That these memories would never break free.
I guess it worked for a little while
It’s been a real long time since I’ve seen that smile
The one that says I’m gonna hurt you but I don’t want to
But I’ve fallen back hard and there’s not a thing that I can do.

I saw your face like you were standing right there
And after so long I was so unprepared
I felt my pulse quicken though I was asleep
I guess some secrets are harder to keep
This pain – my ultimate sacrifice
Cause I let somebody new into my life
And you told me you could never leave
Now I believe it cause I still see you in my dreams.

I saw that you commented on one of my poems and I wanted to check out some of yours. This is so beautiful. It gave me chills. I guess we' re probably in a similiar situation and at times I know it seems they're impossible to reach, but don't listen to what anyone else says, listen to your heart. Everyone is worthy of love. Sometimes life (and logic) just get in the way.
