Array ( [sid] => 28055 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Obsessed [time] => 2003-11-27 05:31:27 [hometext] => Dedicated to the forebearance my wife showed, when (aged 40 to 50) I went fishing....( a lot.) [bodytext] => Part 1......unbounded joy!

She's agreed..She's agreed..She's agreed..she's agreed
She's agreed I can buy a new boat!
The old one is scrap, (a potential death trap)!
It has problems remaining afloat!

There's one going cheap that is really no heap
and it isn't much more than I've got.
A really fine sailer,with engine and trailer
plus gear...Nineteen hundred the lot!!!!!

Part 2..... snags!

Foolish man that I am, did I think she'd no plan?
Did I think she'd not skin me alive?
Like......first on the scene's a new washing machine......
BEFORE ANY BOAT COMES UP THAT DRIVE!

There's a dryer as well and for all I can tell
something more... (in the offing I guess)
Before things are far gone (I bet you odds on)
that there'll be a new hat and a dress........

Part 3... Against all odds

Well the dryer was hard (it's on Mastercard)
The washer? (twelve paymets....she knows)
The dress is from Kays (see there's all kinds of ways)
and I'm launching to see how she goes

The performance? STUPENDOUS!...monthly payments? HORRENDOUS!
Who cares now wer'e out in the boat
and the fishes are biting (two bass and a whiting)
gloat gloat gloat~~~~~~~~~~gloat gloat gloat
~~~~~~~~~~~~gloat gloat gloat~~~~~~~~~~~
This is normal I say,
there is no other way,
give and take is the root of all marriage,
The problem I see,
It's more take then for me,
This woman I will not disparage...
Dear Bob,
I was the first to comment on your poem early this day......but where did it go...."gone fishing you say?'
I trolled with my father up Glendo many times a year. We brought up trout, and they came so fast....we couldn't smoke a cig and make it last! Fishing is a wonderful sport for getting away....and forgetting all your troubles, I hope you can still go Wyrbod...and your pleasure doubles!
Great Poem....lots of smiles and that's what we all need these days.
This is very funny and true - it's the way married folk bump along making compromises and deals. My husband likes to fish too and thought he needed a boat. The boat is long gone, a waste of money he admits. but the washer and dryer are still cranking along.
