Nothing but a faint memory
Of the girl you knew
Well that girl isn't me

I can't remember how it felt
To feel that way

Did you know how hard I tried
To bury the pain deep inside
So maybe you'd know
That for you I can hide

I don't know how it always came
So easily

Well why'd I have to go and change
And turn into somebody
That I didn't ask to be?
Why did I have to go insane
And become a nervous twitch
That you don't wanna be with?
Why can't I close my eyes and take back
Everything I used to have
When it was perfect?
Why couldn't it all just stay the same
When there was no one to blame
And it was perfect?

I lost my heart back there
Fell into the wreckage somewhere
And when my mind went
I gave in to despair

I can't remember how it feels
To be happy

When it all falls away
I let you in and there you'll stay
And I feel the things
I don't have words to say

I don't know how to let it go
I'm too afraid

Well why'd I have to go and change?
I couldn't see through your eyes
I never understood why
Why did I have to go insane?
Never meant to push away
I'll bring those days back someway
I'll open my eyes and see the truth
Of that girl in the phone booth
So perfectly flawed
I'll look around me till I find you
There among the residue
With every little perfect flaw [comments] => 9 [counter] => 159 [topic] => 32 [informant] => MoonlitAngel [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

This poem touched me deeply because I can so relate to how you feel. In your angst remember that it takes two to make or break love and unconditional love lasts right on through those "perfect flaws". I bet you took alot of crap off of whoever you wrote this about. It breaks my heart that we are left to feel so guilty in the end. Beautiful write!! Thanks for sharing!
