I can drop my head
Watch it crash each step
And my body falls after it, dead

Wish that I could change things
Walking faster without you
Falling more than ever
Finding more things to do

Words that never win
And I wake the ones I love
Losing my breath
Push comes to shove

My batteries running dry
These empty words I speak
Too sad to smile
And the happiness I always seem to seek

No one has to be so far away
Not at times like these
Wish I could be held again
And get up off my knees

Cut me deep
You break the skin
Losing sense of reality
With a simple taste of gin

Swallow my illusions
I'll travel with my doubt
Kick me even further
But don't help me find a way out

So long without being young
Growing up so fast
Losing so much after me
And forgetting my past

Lurking feelings everywhere
Lying in wait
You bring out the best in me
And you say the things I love to hate

This is what I must do
Be myself and wonder of tomorrow
Escape losing everything
Time that I must try and borrow

My batteries are running dry again
Come and find me to run
Losing all my passion for desire
And escaping the ever-rising sun

Bless myself and I'll bless my sadness
Sit alone and wait in the dark
Burn your name in my memory
Erase the stupid mark

Recharge me faithfully
Find me a new way home
Get me out of this place
Forget I always roam

Rip the cord off the wall
Take the phone and throw it away
Take away the pain you gave me
I'll take away my batteries and forget what you might say
