want you to agree
That truth is all one way
And only THEY can see

They will tell you propaganda
Is all on one side
That they're so different
With nothing to hide

Now there was a time
When we believed all this
When the power
Was all with them
In their arrogance
They abused this gift
We children at their hem

From a height they thought
They could control the world
Control media and message too
Now in the information age
This is no longer true

Now the counter-opinion
can be heard
And the faults of THE POWER shown
Now is the chance for us to grow up
And make our minds up on our own

The facts are now there
For all to see
The rights and wrongs and lies
U.S. history down the years
The spooks, the coups, the spies

We can study the actions of arrogant men
Who believed in abuse of power
Guatemala, Nicoragua, Chile and many more
Gaining knowledge by the hour

No, they don’t like our new informed world
They want others views to be blocked
They got so used to controlling the flow
And keeping this history locked

And now they’ll try
to twist your head
And say there is only US
We and we alone tell the truth
Why make all this fuss?

“We are your protectors, your shepherds too
We only mean the best
All others are evil, don’t listen to them
Leave US to second guess!”

But don’t believe their lying words
It’s the last trick in their book
The info sources are out of their hands
And they don’t want you to look

They’ll try to scare you into a docile herd
They’ll try to shock you to obey
They want you nice and pliable
To heed only what THEY say

But look beneath their patronizing smiles
And their stern warnings of danger
It was THEY who brought this mess to you
To truth they are a stranger

So always remember
Be sure and LOOK
At agendas on every side
Politicians pretending strength
Their weakness cannot hide

Don’t let them reduce your world
To the puerile and simplistic
They want you as sheep
Don't go the way
of an abbatoir statistic

Stand firm and confront them
Tell the truth
Keep your own counsel wise
Make up your OWN mind
And be not swayed
For our integrity they despise

No good will come of falling in line
Or accepting their LATEST spin
No paradise awaits within their gates
Their morals are wafer thin

They want back the times
They could tell you lies
And we would nod and obey
They want back this power over you
For our kids’ sake shout
