Array ( [sid] => 27800 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Deadbeat Dad [time] => 2003-11-24 03:01:15 [hometext] => This poem is the first one that I have ever written and I plan on giving it to my father for his Christmas present [bodytext] => You always told me you'd be there
The truth is you barely cared
But I don't understand why
Why did u lie and act so sly?
Why did you put the mask on?
Didn't it seem wrong?
Many promises were broken
The whole time I kept my heart open
I put all my trust in you
And what did you do?
You broke my heart
Pulled it out and ripped it apart
I saw a lot of good in you
Those feelings are over due
I needed your assistance
All I felt was resistance
Now I question my existence
How come you never helped me?
You hurt me so badly
Remember the 2nd grade classroom play?
Oh, you forgot, you were drunk all day
But I forgave that
Remember the baseball game?
You promised to take me to the ball park
I sat at home and waited until dark
But I forgave that
What about the Super Bowl?
I was on a roll!
I guessed the closest score
But what was the money used for?
You kept it and never gave it to me
You needed to pay bills apparantly
How come mom was never paid?
Aren't you sick of being in debt and afraid?
Do you realize ur not the only one with a struggle?
I go through tough s*** too and you make it double
Stop giving everybody else the blame
Stop treating your life like a game
You say you love me and everything
But how hard is it to give me a ring?
I can predict what you are going to do
Soon I'll have my license and a car
You'll beg for a ride and say, "I love you"
But hell no I'm not bringin you to the bar
Right now I can't even think straight
The only feeling I have is hate
You ***** me off so bad
All the stupid s*** you have done
Why do you have to be such a horrible dad?
For every problem you make an excuse and run
The reason I'm writing this is so you understand how I feel
I hope and I pray so much that you will be a man and get real
But the chances of that are slim
And the light of your life is dim
For now thats all I have to say
I sure hope this can end in a better way

Wow this was great...on a very touchy hard painful subject...I hope that the end does turn out better for you too. It isn't fair how people have to go through this...in their own family. So sad to even think about. All the best for you.

Emma.

You've expressed your anger well and the reasons for it.
