Array ( [sid] => 27726 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => In The Chill Of The Night [time] => 2003-11-23 08:50:54 [hometext] => A few years back,I had a prowler. This went on for 6 months.I lived alone with my kids and the local blues didnt do a thing. [bodytext] => In the shadows by the wood pile
I heard his staggered breaths
The chill that filled my senses
Reminded me of death
Retreating to the back steps
Shivering with fright
I could feel his eyes upon me
As he hid there in the night
I thought about the children
So quickly ran inside
Checking all the doors and windows
Knowing through them he has pryed
So dark here on this mountain
The stillness usually brings me peace
But the night I heard him breathing
I was left so ill at ease
I could hear his movements along the verandah
Those familiar footsteps closing in
And in the mornings light I knew
I'd see everywhere he'd been
I put up a front and wandered through
To check on all my kids
This creep was messing with my mind
But from them I kept it hid
I thought to call the local blues
But like so many times before
I would be told they could not help
Unless he set foot through the door
Outside,a noise...I heard him there
I wondered what he thought
As he prowled around in shadows
No fear of being caught
All through that night I stayed awake
My protective instincts were in play
And when I saw the morning light
I prayed for the night to stay away

My local use to tell me if I shot um to make sure i drug um thru the door. I never shot um but I made um dance a few times. I live in the Country which is being clear cut all around so I'll have more prowlers as soon as it's more populated.
Very good writing here!
peace, joy, luv,
emy
