Sitting by the briar patch

The other side you teased me
Sitting there smiling

Tried to reach you
Catching myself on every single thorn

Cutting my temples
And disable me to think

At least it's not water
And at least I won't sink

Press on through the briar patch
Thorns driving into me, deep

Sitting there smiling
Watching me weep

Poke out my blue eyes
Scratch me down my throat

The thorns that rip at my flesh
Cut deep to my chest and find my heart

Clutching my tattered clothing
And holding my bleeding head
You there smiling
Can't remember what you said

Halfway through the briar patch
My body covered in thorns

Poison thoughts that taint me
And your teasing smile

Not really waiting for me
Just sitting for a while

Moments in time
And I'd go through this patch

You'll fall down one day
Me, waiting there to catch

Tear-filled eyes that scream for you
And thorns that drive me so insane

You sitting there smiling
Anything but plain

Begging for some comfort
And praying for an end to the pain

The thorns that catch at my clothing
And that burn into my soft flesh

You teasing me from the other side
And sitting there smiling

Get me out of the briar patch
Escape me from the pain

Almost through the briar patch
Yet, we both know I'll do it again

Finally reaching relief
Falling into the grass

Dead and ashes all around me
You even left the briar patch

Red flowing around me
Thorns sticking from my hair
Clothes torn to pieces
And my regrets thrown everywhere

Wait here by this briar patch
Picking out my thorns

For this pain never resides from me

In the briar patch my heart mourns

I can really relate to this. Some loves are worth even the most unbearable pain, or so it seems. Love always finds a reason to forgive
