The sullen cold detour from its delay
In garments pained and scarred the world is clothed
Those frigid eves we long wished go away
The languished soul is but a leaden sail
Whose boat shall never leave the dark shipyard
A dock for those entrenched in sorrow's hail
Angst-laden chains forbidding their depart
They cannot fill their long awaiting hearts
No breeze of joy and mirth is strong enough
By fate they will forever be so barred
Restrained and locked with shadowy handcuffs
And yet within each mind resides their key
Of happy thoughts and merry memory

--They need only the will--

Did you put a lot of work into this or did it just come to you? It's very intriguing. I often wonder how other poets work. My poems usually just come to me, but maybe that shows.
