I have never met you, yet you invade my thoughts with sharp stabbing thorns
I do not hate you
That would be as harsh as the rasping cold wind in the deep of a winter night
Yet still I feel no pity
The fate you wear now, a coat fashioned from your own blindness

This crime, this jealousy, you allowed that seed to grow
Your actions ripple now, a stone so carelessly dropped in the pool of my surroundings
I never asked to see that monster of emotion
That poisoned and gnawed at your soul
Now our paths have crossed, I have to walk through your dark shadows.

She offered you a gift, friendship, pure untainted warmth
What should have been enough was never enough
You had to control, yours the scorpion sting
You stole the dawn of new happiness from her
Cut her with the pieces of her own shattered dreams

If shame is what you feel now
You might yet burn with the heat of her pain
As I held her, silently suffering, a girl torn with sadness
Yet still too proud to cry
Tears trapped inside, like her spirit you tried to bind
Moments of madness destroying what could easily last a lifetime

Jealousy led the dance for you
Offered you her cup from which you drank so freely
The light of reason dimmed in your clouded mind
You allowed that precious gift to walk from you
Let a true friend step out into the night

I will keep the watch now
Guard her against the cruel arrows of those who see only themselves
Those like you, who never had a right to take more than was really given
Take time to look at your soiled reflection, look deep and perhaps realise
Yourself in the bright light of truth you will stand there
Take careful note of the self made fool [comments] => 2 [counter] => 163 [topic] => 48 [informant] => puppy_dog_eyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )
