MY FRIEND IS A MIRACLE IN DISGUISE

Contributed by lovingcritters on Wednesday, 19th November 2003 @ 06:49:33 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Born of small stature, heart as big as all
Cheyenne.
Jimmy could easily be, your neighbor, son,
brother or any other.
He's far more to me, my friend, my inspiration,
from day one, 'twas he!
He has a horrific malady, medical term is "Epilepsy!"
I cannot relate the saying,
"But for the grace of God go I?'
Why would a loving God, give this
to Jimmy, and me deny?

He hasn't had to endure this horrible
malady his entire life.
But, while in Armed Forces it was
brought on aimlessly by strife.
Jimmy is truly a miracle, camouflaged
in an ordinary body.
He does not appear sad, or teary.
Never complains, nor seems dreary.
Always builds me up, and his smile,
says, "How you be?"
But for those that observe carefully....
He is very very special indeed!
Ordinary packaging draws no attention.
In side his brain is electro-intervention.
Should have kept him captive,
but for his temendous courage,
he has never allowed it's bondage!
A savage carnage, a stepping stone.
Jimmy all alone, never groans, no moan.
Completely unadulterated acceptance,
of his plight, faces it head-on, day and night!

"Tell me please Jimmy, for I have no way to know.
Before you have a seizure,
is there anywhere for you to go?"
Calming explaining,
"I'm given a few moments of notice, and when
I feel it coming on, must fight it, this cruelness!"
"And then what Jimmy, then what?" I reply.
"Then,I'm at everyone's mercy, It's on the
Good Lord I must rely"
"Sometimes," he relates, "I don't go completely down.....I find myself wandering,
all over, and around!
When I awaken, I simply backtrack,
to find my bicycle, and my backpack.

He talks about this horrible curse.
As if it couldn't possibly be the worst.
He has accepted his life, competely,
and without malice.
Complains never, no crassness, no callous.
A challenge to him that has to be met.
day in and day out, cannot be upset!
He is highly intelligent in all he conveys.
His mind runs at high speed,
as he eloquently explains 'electronic relays.'
He has small companions sitting at his door.
Cats that understand him, and his lore.
I've searched to reveal a word or two,
that would do this man justice.
or help to explain him anew!

The dictionary tells me that a Miracle is
a "wondering," a supernatural happening!
That's Jimmy all right, in one great glorious
package wrapped with love and tenacity.
A constant battle in his brain,
raging over and over needlessly, again and again.
He rides his bike all over Cheyenne.
And when I see him, I wave my hand!
Two wheels balanced, with an open smile,
and I too, can understand.
Jimmy is a "Moving Miracle" wend.
I'm so glad to have him as my friend!

People with disabilities can live amazing lives, but with people like you by their side, they can be so much more. Depression, Epilepsy, Bi-Polar Disorder and many others eat away at people for so long, but when people like you come along, people with a kind heart and loving nature, the victims start to fight back, because they suddenly feel as though they have someone there who cares about them. Jimmy may not say it, but he is thankful to have you. He is also very lucky. I know when I was going through my depression, if it wasn't for my family then I probably wouldn't still be alive today. I know Jimmy's pain, even if I haven't gone through the same as him, I still know how hard it is to be different and scared all the time. It is because of people like you that I got the courage to become myself and no longer be scared. God bless you, and Jimmy.

(hugs)

I like to FUN with connie sue
and play a game between us two,
but now and then she writes a poem
That's hard to kid..it sure hits home.

This is one, who can deny,
It's quite a poem and that's no lie
about this poem I will not wrangle
Appears to me she's sure an angel

Always a pleasure to come visit...You are a doll..a living breathing doll!!
If I were closer,I'd wear thin a path between your front gate and mine dear friend.
How you touch the soul..
Sharon

As an epileptic,I'm glad you made it known that it's not just because we have epilepsy that we're stupid, depressive or whatever. We lead normal lives like everyone else, only storms hit us more often, but the sun comes out as much as everybody else.We each have our own cross to carry.Nicely done,
PumpkinPie
