Reminiscing about his children, his pride,
He gave them everything in his might,
Guiding them as they climbed new heights.

Yes, they grew in stature and might,
He smiled and cried, beamed with delight,
Yet with the fame came all the spite,
Their old man no more did they like.

So he went by life alone each day,
Most of the times he sat and prayed,
Lead my children back this way,
Please Lord take all this pain away.

Holiday seasons came by each year,
He waits and waits and yet he fears,
They don't return yet they are so near,
And once again comes annual tears.

It was a cold morn when he did die,
Couldn't take anymore of his wretched plight,
He was alone, no children, no wife,
He finally gave up and died of strife. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 1079 [topic] => 23 [informant] => blueheart [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 17 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => FamilyPoems )

this one grabs me by the heart as my father will be gone 7 years in January.
Out of 8 kids i was here taking care of him.
None of the other kids have never ask me waht were his last words. Guess it's a good thing.
As i was getting him in bed the last time he said, "I want to thank u for helping me."
I got back here from another State and three joyous months with him before he passed.
I said, Dad, I just thank god for getting me here and I wouldn't have it any other way.
He then said, If i didn't have u I wouldn't have nobody.
peace, joy, luv,
emy

Well... this is just so true in today's society.... Sometimes, we as youngsters don't appreciate our elders much... how sad.

By the way great work of art here.

We are born naked, alone and poor. We die naked, alone and poor-again. This is sad and poignant, yes, but inevitable.
