To remind myself why
Sometimes it takes courage
To say to you, good-bye

And I wonder why you didn't stay
You didn't pause
You didn't say
That much at all...

The gun is still smoking
Reminding me of words I didn't say
My tears, they keep soaking
And the gun is still smoking away

Sometimes it takes love
To convice you to pray
Sometimes it takes trust
To give a life away

And I wonder why you didn't scream
You didn't cry
You didn't bleed
That much at all...

But yes, the gun is still smoking
Reminding me of words I'd meant to say
The door always closing
And the gun is still smoking away

Sometimes it takes pain
To forget your memories
Sometimes it takes death
To wipe the slate clean

And I wonder why you didn't try
You didn't move
You didn't cry
That much at all...

The gun is still smoking
Reminding me of loves I've locked away
My throat is now choking
And the gun is still smoking away

I couldn't bear to see you there
Standing, looking lost and scared
And suddenly, I knew I couldn't
Ever make it true
And did you know
That shot was meant for you?

And I wonder why you didn't cry
You turned away
You said goodbye
So easily...

And the gun is still smoking
Reminding me it's better off this way
Nobody blamed, nobody framed
I'm not in your way...
My eyes are crying
My heart is breaking
My soul is aching
My mind is trying
My eyes are closing
My throat is choking
And the gun is still smoking away. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 188 [topic] => 13 [informant] => Cora-Windover [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

I read this with my mouth open and my brain screaming MORE! I could see it all in my head. You made me feel and it's not often anyone does that so congrats. Hope someone does make it into a song 'coz I would play it over and over. Love'n'kisses, Wolfareen.
