Array ( [sid] => 26697 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => becoming a man [time] => 2003-11-08 02:28:46 [hometext] => for my son, a bit soft for me, wanting to protect him from this sick, sad world [bodytext] => i lost the steel in my eyes today
and just watched the world through tears
the stupid things that people do to one another
the petty backstabbing
the "screw him before he screws me" mindset
it just made me sick

and then i looked at you
so small and aloof
you just smiled and gave me a hug
showed me your fingers in fascination
then, ran off to play

never thought i'd be so concerned
about protecting someone else
so distressing to know
that i won't always be able to shield you
from this ***** factory of a world
and i hate everyone else all the more
for the harm that they could do

considering the end
the means sound severe
but, i'd love to kill the world
just so you could grow up in peace

but, all i can do
is prepare you the best i can
show you some of the scars
that this world can leave
help you learn the ***** up way
that things often go
and hope that i can help you become a man
just like you helped me [comments] => 3 [counter] => 310 [topic] => 21 [informant] => Cancer [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

Oh Cancer what a wonderful poem for your son.
What a good father you are, I can tell....for all we good parents want to put them in a shell. But remember Cancer....no put you there, and just look what a wonderful man you've become because you care!
Lovely write.
