Array ( [sid] => 26440 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => winter comes [time] => 2003-11-04 15:56:58 [hometext] => a cold dark november day it is..... [bodytext] => the color of rust
against slate gray
skies and mountains
deep purple shadows
where is the sunlight?
casting about behind low clouds
the threat of rain
or maybe snow
cold permeates the day
leaves scuttle in the wind
i am cold
solemn
this time of year
the last days before winter
comes to throw its white blanket down
the snow queen with her silver eyes
regal and waiting for jack frost to fly
make way for her highness
the chimney smoke curls down
welcoming her with a gentle bow
the fields lay naked grieving
the birds head south take leaving
as a matter of fact decision
to avoid the cold hand of her royal highness
and i walk the long road to town
hear the neighbor's children squeal
jumping in the leaves of brown
calling the dog, ole jack,
come along and hurry back
to start the fires up tonight
chase away this damp and chill
for winter sleep comes by at four
with darkness falling round the door
put the kettle on to boil
sit around the hearth and hum
songs of summer days gone by

merry
