No one knows why I cry,
Or took a moment to ask me why.

But my spirits are down today,
As the abuse of children continues to decay.

The very fiber of their soul,
Making each one less than whole.

You see it on the street and in the news,
Not enough love, too much abuse.

A child’s emotions are fragile, yet to mature,
Often they hide them behind their hearts door.

Never showing on the outside, their hearts fear,
Alone in the dark, they shed a tear.

I wish God would come and take them away,
To be in heaven to spend their days.

Maybe I’m a dreamer, that’s just me,
But I refuse to let this be.

Our children need a voice, a protector, a friend,
To stand by their side until this tragedy ends.

How true are your words and how very sad are they as we watch every day children being starved, beaten and killed. Thank you for reminding us to speak up when we something that looks like abuse.

I was abused as a child, and have to say it seems as though you were in my head when you wrote this. Everything in this poem is correct, and though most people don't realize it. ABUSE CAN BE STOPPED!!!!! Their were so many people in my life who knew what was going on who never thought to "save" me. I will hold it against them for the rest of my life!!

well written........good stand.......i too, suffered abuse as a child....there were many who knew and did nothing or not enough.........and many who participated....probably because they too, had been abused........

i think what is so hard is that we see so much abuse.......society as a whole are failing their children.......i ache from the loss of my own child while they throw theirs away...........sometimes that makes the atrocities harder to fathom.........
